HOOSIERS FALL TO ILLINOISCHAMPAIGN, ILL. - The Indiana University wrestling team lost its second Big Ten match of the season, falling to Illinois 22-9. The Hoosiers (7-1-2, 1-2), only managed three match victories, while the Fighting Illini (9-0, 3-0) took seven.
Bright spots for Indiana included #20 Mike Powell (174) defeated Ben King of Illinois, 3-1 in overtime. Viktor Sveda (184), currently ranked #20, defeated #9 Nate Patrick of Illinois, 6-4. And #11 Kevin Stanley (157), was victorious over Griff Powell, 7-4.
Indiana next travels to Iowa City, Iowa to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday, January 31, 1999 at 11:00 a.m.
