HOOSIERS DROP ANOTHER TO IOWA
IOWA CITY, IOWA - The Indiana University wrestling team lost its second match of the weekend, falling to the Iowa Hawkeyes 39-9. The Hoosiers (7-1-3, 1-3), managed only two victories in the meet, one by #20 Viktor Sveda (184) and the other coming from Pat Cassidy (125). Indiana also lost to Illinois on Friday 22-9.
Viktor Sveda ( 24-3, 4-0) continued his solid season, pinning Iowa's Paul Jenn. With that pin, Sveda stretched his team lead to eight. On Friday at Illinois, Sveda defeated #9th ranked Nate Patrick for one of three IU match victories.
The other bright spot for the Hoosiers today was Pat Cassidy. Cassidy (5-1, 2-1) earned a decision over Iowa's Ben Kritsonis, 11-6. Cassidy did not wrestle at Illinois.
The Hoosiers next travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio State on February 5, 1999. That match will begin at 7:00 p.m. On February 6, 1999, IU will hit the road again, visiting State College, Penn., to square off against Penn State at 6:30 p.m.
