CATS AND CARDS COMING TO TOWN
THIS WEEK: The Indiana women's swimming and diving team will host the Ball State Cardinals on Friday, November 12 at 4 p.m. Then on Saturday, November 13, at 1 p.m., they will team with the men to host a co-ed dual meet against the University of Cincinnati Bearcats in the Counsilman/Billingsley Aquatics Center. Please note the change in Saturday's start time.
LAST WEEK: The Hooseirs showed great improvement, but fell to the Kentucky Wildcats 132-109. Sophomore All-American Sara Reiling swept the diving events, and broke two pool records in the process. Reiling took the 1- and 3-meter events (six dives) with a score of 304.65 and 332.02 respectively.
Junior All-American Jennifer Cristy also took two events. Cristy's times in the 50 (22.94) and 100 (50.66) free were both less than one second off her school records from last season. Junior Megan Ryther was the Hoosiers other winner. Ryther's time of 10:16.53 put her first in the 1000 free by more than ten seconds. Freshman Tina Gretlund and junior Ellie Lallman both turned in outstanding performances for IU.
Indiana also posted season bests in seven events against the Wildcats. Coach Dorsey Tierney was pleased with her squad's performance, and anticipates greater improvement this week.
HOOSIERS VS. CARDS AND BEARCATS: Last year the Hoosiers topped
both Ball State and UC. IU beat BSU on the Cardinals home turf, 143-100.
The Hoosiers took 10 of 13 events in that meet. IU faced Cincinnati
in the Illinois Extravaganza last season. The Hoosiers came out on top,
78-35.
