INDIANA FINISHES ITS HIGHEST SINCE 1992 AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Athens, GA.--The Indiana Hoosiers tallied their finest finish at the NCAA Championships since 1992 this weekend at the University of Georgia. The Hoosiers took 22nd place with only four athletes competing.
Sophomore Jen Cristy led the way for IU Swimming. The '98 All-American grabbed eighth in the 50-yard free with a time of :22.80 garnering All-American honors for the second time. Cristy also finished eighth last season in the 50-yard free.
Cristy also qualified in the 100-yard free. Her time of :50.42 ranked 28th overall.
Sophomore Erin Quinn picked up where she left off last season. A honorable mention All- American as a freshman, Quinn took sixth on one-meter with 425.00 points picking up All-American honors. Her sixth place finish is IU's highest since Kimiko Hirai won the one-meter in 1996. Quinn also qualified for three-meter where she picked up ninth place.
Freshman Sara Reiling took 10th on ten-meter to earn honorable-mention All-American honors. Reiling also snatched 20th on three-meter.
Jenn Brooks was the final competitor. Brooks, a four-time NCAA qualifier and three-time All-American, finished 31st in the 200-yard fly with a 2:05.89 and 33rd in the 100 yard fly clocking a :56.33.
The Hoosiers wrap up their season with a 6-4 record overall and a 1-3 Big Ten record in head coach Dorsey Tierney's inaugural season.
