IU TO FACE TWO BIG TEN OPPONENTS
Meet Data
The Hoosiers return to action following a two week break. Indiana
will travel to East Lansing, Michigan to face Penn State and
the Michigan State Spartans.
The State of the States
Last season the Hoosiers did not face Penn State, however, Indiana
was a 65-78 winner over Michigan State last year. Currently,
the Nittany Lions have only lost once this season and are 7-1
in the season, and 1-0 in the Big Ten. The Spartans are coming
off a win against Ball State, and are 3-2, 0-2 in the conference.

The Coaches
Dorsey Tierney is in her second season as the Indiana head women's
swimming coach.
Jeff Huber is in his eleventh season as head diving coach.
Coaches' Outlook
Indiana head diving coach, Jeff Huber:
"The women divers continue to improve and I am interested
in seeding the improvement manifest itself in the meets this
weekend."
Indiana head women's swimming coach Dorsey Tierney:
"Right now I feel we are doing better than before Christmas.
I continue to be pleased with how we race."
Record Setters
The 2000 women's roster includes four Indiana school record holders.
Jenn Cristy holds the school marks in the 50- and 100-yard
freestyle events (22.61 and 50.03) as well as the 100-yard breaststroke
(1:03.64). Cristy was also a member of the 200- and 400-yard
freestyle relay teams, as well as the 200- and 400-yard medley
relay teams. Cristy has the distinction of holding the Big Ten
record in the 50 free (22.61). Sara Reiling holds the
pool records for both the one- and three-meter events. Amanda
Noblet holds the 200-yard backstroke record (2:02.250 and
Meghan Rice was a member of the 200- and 400-yard freestyle
relay teams.
Freestyle
The Hoosiers are led by junior All-American Jennifer Cristy.
Cristy holds the team season bests in the 50 (22.94), 100 (50.66)
and 200 (1:51.53) yard events. Anne Williams is the second
fastest Hoosier in the 50 (24.32) and 100 (52.53).
Megan Ryther and Erin Rice lead the IU distance
corps. Ryther holds the Hoosiers' best time in the 1000 free
(10:15.07)and the 500 (5:04.11) and second best in the mile (17:12.94).
Rice has the fastest mile (17:07.53) and second fastest 500 (5:04.17).
Stroke Events
Several Hoosiers have contributed in the stroke events. Co-Captains
Libbie McCarthy (100: 1:00.42) and Amanda Noblet
(200: 2:06.77) lead the backstrokers. Freshman Tina Gretlund
(200: 2:04.41) and Maggie Helmers (100: 59.22) head the
fly events. The top breaststroker is Megan Geers (200:
2:24.05). Jennifer Cristy (200: 2:06.54) and Kristy
Martin (400: 4:31.73) are the fastest in the Individual Medly.
Divers
Sophomore All-American and former Big Ten Diver of the Week Sara
Reiling leads the Hoosiers. Reiling is coming off a one-meter
win against Ohio State, where she also took third in the three-meter.
