Indoor Rowing Competes in Cincinnati
Meet Data
The rowing Hoosiers will travel to Cincinnati on Sunday to participate in the Cincinnati Indoor Rowing Championships. This is an individual competition which uses machines to track one's time. Other competing schools are the University of Louisville, the University of Dayton, the University of Cincinnatti, Xavier University, Ohio State University and Ohio University.
Meet Results
Meet results will be made available on the web at www.athletics.indiana.edu following the event. They can be viewed and printed out by choosing women's crew from the main menu. Weekly updates and season best lists can be obtained at www.athletics.indiana.edu all season long.
First Season
This is the first year for the women's varsity crew here at IU. The team has many new faces and hopes to grow in the future.
Club Team
The new team consists of many members of the former club team as well as many new freshmen. Some of the participating members that formerly rowed for the club team are Dawn Reiss, Mary Hubbard, Katy Ostertag, Caitlin Skinner, Claire Shepley, Alyce Elsener, Rachel Johnson, Joann McCallister, Kate Ridge, Angie Langreck, Beth Lund and Erin Punter
The Coaches
Coach Mark Wilson coaches the team. He formerly coached the team at club status.
"Since we are a first year sport, we are starting from scratch. It's not only a new program, but also a new sport,"said Coach Wilson. "We must educate the administration, the athletic department, the student body and the support staff. Everything is new and we are looking at it as a challenge."
Next Meet
Next week is the C.R.A.S.H. B.'s competition which are the National Indoor rowing Championships.
