HOOSIERS PREPARE FOR THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
MEET INFORMATION: The Hoosiers compete at the Big Ten Champiosnhips Saturday and Sunday March 4-5 in West Lafayette, Indiana. Each team enters one competitor per weight class, which are then seeded. The seedings will be finalized the Friday before the meet.

HEAD COACH DUANE GOLDMAN... is in his eighth season as the head coach and tenth season with the program. He has a career dual meet record of 92-51-3 (.640), and has coached five individuals to seven All-America honors. Goldman is just the seventh coach in the program's history and ranks fourth all-time in wins with 92.

IN THE RANKINGS: The Hoosiers are receiving votes in the InterMat poll and the National Wrestling Coaches' Association poll. Also, four Hoosiers made the InterMat top 20 for their respective weight classes: senior Pat Cassidy is sixth at 125, junior Kevin Stanley is 13th at 157, freshman Ty Matthews is 20th at 184, and sophomore Viktor Sveda is eighth at 197. WORLD CLASS: IU assistant coach Charles Burton is a member of the United State Freestyle Wrestling Team. Burton is ranked second nationally in the 187.25 pound weight class. He won the gold medal at a world-class event in Iran in January. The event included the top-ranked wrestler in the world. He will next compete for the US in world duals against Russia (Feb. 8 in Edinboro, Pa.) and Cuba (Feb. 15 in Houston, Texas).
TORRES RETURNS: Two-time NCAA qualifier, James Torres, returned to the Hoosier lineup at the Wendy's Duals after missing the first two months of the season. He is 9-2 (4-1 Big Ten) with two pins since returning.
RETURNING QUALIFIERS: The Hoosiers return five NCAA Qualifiers: Pat Cassidy (125), James Torres (141), Kevin Stanley (157), Viktor Sveda (All-American at 184, now at 197), and Michael Dixon (HWT)
BATTLING THE BEST: Viktor Sveda is 5-3 against ranked opponents and 3-2 in duals with top-ten foes.
MULTI-MEET MANIA: The Hoosiers have competed in more than one meet on the same day five times this year and are 6-0 in the first meet, 5-1 in the second meet, and 2-1 in their third meet of the day.
KINGS OF PIN: Pat Cassidy has 12 pins this season, which is tied for sixth all-time at IU. He now has 24 for his career, which is fifth at Indiana . Cassidy leads all current Hoosiers in season and career pins. Viktor Sveda has 20 pins for his career which is eighth on the IU career list. Sveda is up to 11 this year which ties for eighth at IU in a season.
FOUR THE RECORD: The current roster has four of the top 13 career pin totals in IU history. Pat Cassidy is fifth with 24, Viktor Sveda eighth with 20, James Torres is tied for 11th with 16, and Kevin Stanley is tied for 11th with 16.
ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: IU sophomore Viktor Sveda earned Big Ten Wrestler-of-the-Week honors January 26 after defeating No. 10 Lee Weber of Iowa and No. 6 Pat Quirk of Illinois on the opening weekend of conference competition.
50 AND CLIMBING: Five current Hoosiers have at least 50 career wins: Kevin Stanley, 74; Viktor Sveda, 70; Pat Cassidy, 59; James Torres, 56; and Butch Hildebrand, 50 .
NO ROOM FOR DOUBT: IU wrestlers have combined for 53 pins in 352 (213-139) matches this season. That's 24.9 percent of the Hoosier victories and 15.1 percent of all matches are won by fall. Pat Cassidy leads the team with nine pins in 21 matches, and Butch Hildebrand and Viktor Sveda are next as each have seven pins in 21 and 22 matches, respectively.
NOT GOING THE DISTANCE: The current roster has picked up 120 career pins combined, including 53 this season.
PLAYING PERCENTAGES: Viktor Sveda has an .864 (70-11) career winning percentage which is ninth on the IU career list.
INCOMING: The Hoosiers have signed two wrestlers for next season. Dustin Heist of Meadville, Pennsylvania will probably wrestle at 174 or 184 and Pat DeGain of Clarkston, Michigan will enter at 197 or heavyweight.
FAMILY AFFAIR: The Cysewski family is well represented in the Big Ten. Dan Cysewski's uncle, also named Dan was a four-year letterwinner at IU from 1975-78, and Tim Cysewski, the head wrestling coach at Northwestern, is the father of the current IU wrestler.
BROTHERS OPPOSED: IU assistant coach Lenny Zalesky is the brother of Iowa head coach Jim Zalesky.
JOSH ALLEY: lost 11-3 to Matt Johnson of Central Missouri State...went 2-2 with at the Northern Iowa Open, first career pin came in his third match of the event...went 0-2 in the St. Louis Open.
JASON BADER: went 0-2 at the Northern Iowa Open...finished 0-2 in the St. Louis Open.

JOSH BEALS: is redshirting this season...went 1-2 while wrestling unattached at the Northern Iowa Open.
BRETT BECKS: defeated Adam Shawver of Slippery Rock 18-7...went 1-1 at the St. Louis Open.
MICHAEL BUNDY: won both matches at the Wendy's Duals, gaining a 10-9 decision against Binghamton and an 8-4 victory against Slippery Rock...went 3-2 at the Northern Iowa Open...finished 3-2 in the St. Louis Open...went 4-2 with two pins to finish seventh at the Michigan State Open.
PAT CASSIDY: scored a 13-5 major decision over Tim Nilles of Eastern Illinois to help IU in the 22-21 dual meet win...took just 2:24 to pin A.J. GABE COOK: won 11-7 over Rocky McKinney of Eastern Michigan...finished 2-1 at the Wendy's Duals, defeating his opponents from Binghamton and Slippery Rock...went 3-2 at the Virginia Duals, claiming a 9-1 win to help the team to a 23-12 win over then No. 23 Rider...took an 8-1 decision against Corey Hamrick of Wyoming...defeated Luke Shaw of Central Missouri State...won 5-3 over Mark Bader of Missouri.
