Reiling Named All-American
Indianapolis, Ind.--Sara Reiling scored 38 of Indiana's 45 points, as she claimed double All-America honors. Reiling placed third in the Platform competition on Saturday, second in the three-meter on Friday, and Thursday took home 12th in the one-meter.
In the water, Jenn Cristy swam a lifetime best in the 100 meter freestyle (55.82), but failed to make it to the evening heets. Cristy received honorable mention All-America honors in the 50M free when she finished 10th (25.50). Susan Woessner made her first NCAA appearance. The sophomore backstroker placed 28th, swimming a lifetime best 1:02.75 in the 100M backstroke.
Next up for the Hoosiers is US Nationals in Federal Way, Wash. The competition begins March 28. Indiana will send between 4-6 athletes to the competition.
Georgia repeated as NCAA champions, edging out Arizona 490.5 to 472. Northwestern was the highest Big Ten finisher. The Wildcats (coached by IU head coach Dorsey Tierney's older brother Jimmy Tierny) placed sixth (186.5 pts). 2000 Big Ten Champ Minnesota placed 23rd with 43 points.
