Hoosiers Continue Successful Campaign
Columbus, Ohio-The Indiana rowing team battled Ohio State in a dual meet and the Hoosiers captured three of the five races on the day.
The Novice Four boat posted nearly a 30 second victory over the Buckeyes. The Hoosiers had open water 250 meters into the race and never looked back. By the 500 meter mark Indiana had more than a full length lead and 250 meters later that lead increased to four boat lengths. Indiana crossed the finish line in 8:01.7.
The Novice Eight boat had similar success. 500 meters into the race the Hoosiers held a full length lead and increased that lead to two lengths with 750 meters left in the race. The Hoosiers crossed the finish line in 7:05.0.
The First Novice Eight boat posted an 11 second victory over the Buckeyes. Indiana opened up a on length lead at the 1250 meter mark and increased it to two lengths before the Hoosiers won the race in a time of 6:59.20.
"We continued to row well and now will focus on the first-ever
Big Ten Championship, " head coach Mark Wilson said.
Ohio State posted victories in both the Varsity Four and Varsity
Eight races.
