Hoosiers Announce 2001 Schedule
Bloomington, Ind. -- The 2001-2002 Indiana women’s crew team has announced its scheduled, highlighted by the season-ending 2002 NCAA Rowing Championships to be hosted by the Hoosiers in conjunction with U.S. Rowing May 30-June 1 in Indianapolis.
Third-year head coach Mark Wilson has established a schedule that will give the Hoosiers a glimpse of the nation’s top programs. A quick glance at the schedule shows that the Hoosiers season is split into two different seasons, a fall and a spring season.
In the fall, Wilson and the Hoosiers’ schedule are similar to what they have faced in the past with one addition, the Head of the Charles in Boston, Massachusetts. According to Wilson, the race will be a lot of fun and be a good experience for them as a team and the program as a whole. While in Boston, the race will feature many of the same teams that will be vying for a spot at the NCAA’s. The fall season finale at the Head of the Elk, will feature Big Ten-type speed to give the Hoosiers a glimpse of what they will see in the spring portion of the schedule.
Prior to the start of the spring season, the Hoosiers will spend spring break training in Elberton, Georgia.
Following their spring training, the Hoosiers begin the spring portion of their schedule with the Sacramento Invitational in Sacramento, California on March 22-24. As the Hoosiers will go through the spring portion of the schedule, with a rigorous slate of opponents many that were mentioned in the top 25 rankings. IU will host its annual invitational the weekend of April 20-21, with UMass, Tulsa and Big Ten foe, Ohio State visiting.
