Sarah Meyer regarding preparation for the weekend...
"We've been preparing both mentally and physically for the regatta on
Sunday by practicing with a focus on intensity. We've been in smaller
boats a few days this week, and I think that practicing neck-and-neck
with teammates has helped us increase our drive, both physically in
the legs and mentally in our determination. I think we're ready to go
out and compete on Sunday in Rockford and continue to show other teams
what IU Crew is all about this year."
Amanda Tallman regarding mental and physical preparation...
"The team has prepared for this regatta on Sunday with hard practices
that keyed in on core body strength. We have mentally prepared by
having the boats side by side during practices this allowed us to
practice as if it was a race."
Tallman on goals and expectations.....
"My goals and expectations for the team on Sunday are to have both of
our eights finish in the top three of both races. I also look forward
to watching both the novice eight and four. I believe that they should
do pretty well this weekend."
Kristin Storer regarding mental and physical preparation...
"This week has been a physically and mentally demanding week. Our
practices on the water were set up in a spring race fashion where all
the boats were doing their piece together, pushing each other to give
her all. Because the practices were intended to be quite challenging
physically, we had to mentally prepare to stick with the work out and
not give up. We had to keep pushing just like we would in a race;
it's the only way we're going to get stronger and better. This week
will hopefully give each girl the confidence that we have gotten
stronger both individually and as a boat since last Saturday and are
able to do better on Sunday."
Meredith DeCosta regarding preparation for the weekend...
"I think the team really stepped up the intensity this week. We all
worked extremely hard this week, focusing on perfecting every single
stroke, in order to be successful this weekend."
DeCosta on goals and expectations...
"This weekend will be tough - we will be facing some of the more
solid teams in the country. But, our technique is looking great and
the only step left is believing that we are one of the best teams in
the region. We have to start knowing that we can be the best."
Kelly Schuiling regarding preparation for the weekend...
"We had a very hard week of practice. Mostly this week we worked on
getting stronger and really building our cardiovascular and legs up.
Mentally I think we have a great edge this week. We have had nothing
but great rows and we are finally starting to really work as a team
and get the boat moving."
Schuiling on goals and expectations...
"Sunday I am expecting us to have good showing. I think the Varsity 8
has a real shot at medalling and we have many pairs and doubles that
have been working well together and really pushing each other to get
stronger. I think we will be very strong in those events."
Elizabeth Lawson regarding preparation for the weekend...
"We had a hard week of work on
the water and we've been focusing on strength and technique. We have
been watching video and been getting in a mental mindset to compete."
Margaret Clark regarding team preparation for the weekend...
"We've been working physically, and with good physical workout comes a
great mental workout. I'm very interested to see how we match up with
some of the other teams that will be there. This race in itself will be
a great preparation for the rest of the season, as well as a major
determining factor on how far we have come, and how far we have
to go."
