Cooper and DeGain Ranked in Top 10

Bloomington, Ind. - The 2002-03 season is set to begin this weekend for the Hoosiers when they travel to Columbia, Missouri for the Missouri Open on November 24. Although team scores will not be kept at the Open, it will give the team and its individuals an opportunity to get in challenging matches on the mat.
Some of the top teams in the nation will send individuals to the Missouri Open, including Nebraska and Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Illinois to name just a few.
Beginning the season ranked in the top 10 in the nation, Coyte Cooper (141, Anacortes, Wash./Anacortes HS) and Pat DeGain (197, Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston HS) have managed to hold their respective rankings. The Wrestling Mall released rankings this week, placing Coyte Cooper eighth at 141 pounds while Pat DeGain is ninth at 197 pounds.
W.I.N. Magazine's Nov. 19 rankings place DeGain 16th while Amateur Wrestling News does not have DeGain ranked at all. At 197, LockHaven's Jon Trenge holds first in all polls.
Cooper is ranked by all three services, holding eighth place from The Wrestling Mall, 10th place in the W.I.N. Magazine rankings and 11th in Amateur Wrestling News' poll. At 141, Iowa State's Aaron Holker is the undisputed number one-ranked wrestler in the nation.
Cooper and DeGain will look to improve their national rankings when they face some of the best wrestlers in the nation at the Missouri Open on Sun., Nov. 24.
