Huber Announces Recruiting Class
Bloomington, Ind. – Head men’s and women’s diving coach Jeff Huber has announced that Lindsay Weigle (Bloomington, Ind./South) and Jade Summerlin (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) have signed a National Letter-of-Intent to attend Indiana University, beginning in the fall of 2003.“I am really excited,” said Huber while speaking of Weigle, Summerlin, and men’s diving recruit Taylor Roberts. “I think we had an exceptional recruiting semester. I am excited about all three of my recruits. I think part of it is the chemistry. I look for people who are not only talented, but also good people whom I think will fit in and enhance team chemistry so that when divers come to practice, they are getting pushed and supported by teammates, and having fun while simultaneously improving and reaching their diving goals. This is perhaps one of the best recruiting classes I have had.”
Lindsay Weigle
Bloomington, Ind. (South)
The 2002 Junior Nationals champion on 3-meter, this Bloomington South product placed third on 1-Meter at both the 2001 and 2002 Indiana High School Athletic Association state diving meets…was the 2001 East Junior National Champion on 3-Meter…was a high school All-America selection in both 2001 and 2002…teamed with current IU senior Lori Matthys to place fourth in Synchronized Platform Diving at the 2001 Senior Nationals…was a member of the US Diving Women’s and Combined Championship teams in 2000 and 2001…dives for Indiana Diving, which is coached by Indiana University Diving Events Coordinator Jason Baumann…she is the daughter of Kathy and Mark Weigle.
Head coach Jeff Huber on Lindsay Weigle: “Lindsay Weigle is a very talented athlete and outstanding person. She was an age group national champion this past summer. Since she dives for our age group club, it was tough recruiting her. It was hard to see her everyday and not try and say something recruiting-related. I think she appreciated that. I am really looking forward to working with her on a year-round basis. She is probably the most talented female recruit in the country. Besides that, she is a great student, a great person, and will really fit well into our team. I am really excited.”
Jade Summerlin
Fishers, Ind. (Hamilton Southeastern)
A 2002 Senior Nationals qualifier on platform, this Fishers, Ind., product also qualified for Junior Nationals in 2000, 2001 and 2002…was an Indiana High School state finalist in 2001 and 2002…placed ninth as a junior in 2002 and 12th as a sophomore in 2001…was selected as a high school All-America selection in 2002…dives for the Indianapolis Starz, under the direction of John Wingfield…her parents, Nancy and Don Summerlin, both graduated from Indiana University.
Head coach Jeff Huber on Jade Summerlin: “Jade Summerlin is very experienced and very talented. She has a full list on tower, and I am really looking forward to working with her. She is the type of athlete I enjoy working with, and she will fit into our team very well. She is a very special person and we are lucky to have her be a part of the team next year.”
