Hoosiers In Latest InterMat Rankings

Bloomington, Ind. - The Indiana wrestling team may have gotten off to a rocky start in dual meets against Rider and Rutgers Nov. 30, but it boasts some of the top wrestlers in the nation at 125, 141 and 197.
In the InterMat NCAA Division I polls released Dec. 4, Hoosier wrestlers Joe Dubuque (125/Bloomfield, N.J./Glenview), Coyte Cooper (141/Anacortes, Wash./Anacortes) and Pat DeGain (197/Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) are all ranked in the top 20 in the nation.
A redshirt freshman, Dubuque enjoys the first national ranking of his collegiate career. His No. 18 ranking at 125 pounds places him among the best in the country.
Teammate and senior Coyte Cooper enjoys a No. 7 ranking in the 141 pound weight class, just behind Central Michigan's Jason Mester who defeated Cooper in the finals at the Missouri Open. Cooper went undefeated on the team's east coast swing against Mike Molosky of Rider and Jon Rodriguez of Rutgers.
Rounding out the best of the Hoosier lineup this season, sophomore Pat DeGain is ranked ninth by InterMat. He was the champion at 197 at the Missouri Open and split his dual meets, defeating Rider's Jared Terrell, 15-6. His unblemished record did not hold against Rutgers as No. 19 Ryan McGrath won a hard fought battle, 2-1.
The Hoosiers next compete at the Northern Iowa Open on Dec. 7 where the current ranked Hoosiers will seek to improve upon an already promising season.
