Rowing Reflects on September 11th

Bloomington, IN - The rowing team reflects on the events of September 11th by extending their message to the victims, the families of the victims, the heroes and the nation.
Sophomore Kelly Schuiling
"The events of September 11th affected the entire nation, and I believe they brought us together as a nation. I would like to tell the families and friends of the victims that there is hope and that there are people from all different walks of life who are praying for you, and fighting for our freedom. To those who are away and fighting for our country, we are behind you 100% and we wish you safety."

"Sept 11th opened my eyes and made me proud to be an American because the police officers and firefighters came back day after day and never gave up hope of finding people. To the families of the victims I am truly sorry. To the firefighters and police officers thank you for your hard work. Finally to the citizens of the United States of America thank you for uniting with one another to show other countries that we overcame this tragedy."

"Sept. 11th is a date that we will never forget and it's not just because so many lives were lost and heroes made, but because it was a date that we truly learned what it was to be an American and now we are a better and stronger nation because of that."

Sophomore Meredith De Costa "September 11 should be a reminder to ALL humans, everyday, that we should unite, not just as a country, but as a world to strive to make life more happy, just, and liveable. We are all interconnected in the quilt of humanity and we all affect one another in some way, so we need to join hands and make this world a more peaceful place."

"My heart goes out to the children who lost a parent, and in some sad cases, both, and to those parents who had to outlive their children. My only hope is that when people say 'Never forget' they actually never forget that someone hated us enough to sacrafic their lives for their cause, and that we should do everything in our power to find out what we did wrong and change it now. Not just put up a wall and preach more hatred and intolorence."
