IU Finishes Head of the Rock (10-13-03)

Rockford, Ill. - The Indiana rowing team competed in its first regatta of the fall, under the direction of first-year head coach Steve Peterson on Sunday, Oct. 12 when it traveled to the Head of the Rock in Rockford, Ill.
In the varsity 4, Indiana A finished in ninth place with a time of 19:12.3. The boat was led by coxswain Lauren Wharen, Lauren Anderson, Amanda Walker, Ashley Airis and Kelly Schuiling.
Indiana B led by coxswain Maria Hernandez, Line Espendal, Jamy Stech, Leslie Schaffer and Ashley Quinn finished in 16th place with a time of 19:26.1. Indiana C finished in 20th place with a time of 20:03.3 as they were led by coxwain Sarah Meyer, Annie Lawson, Amy Hoffman, Casey Schoenhoft and Kristin Storer.
In the varsity 8, Indiana A finished in 18th place with a time of 18:00.0. The boat was led by coxswain Lauren Wharen, Amanda Walker, Lauren Anderson, Ashley Airis, Line Espendal, Leslie Schaffer, Kelly Schuiling, Casey Schoenhoft and Jamy Stech.
Indiana B with a time of 18:24.2 finished in 23rd as led by coxswain Sarah Meyer, Annie Lawson, Kristin Storer, Ashley Quinn, Amy Hoffman, Mary Bell, Elisabeth Benoit, Christine Taylor and Katie Slavik.
Indiana C led by coxswain Maria Hernandez, Erin Kuehn, Stephanie Weert, Casey Fein, Carly Shilling, Meredith Hanshu, Laura Stebbins, Amanda Tallman and Rebeckah Archibald finished in 27th place with a time of 18:40.1
The novice 8 finished in 13th place with a time of 20:41.1. The boat was led by coxswain Ashley Sobieski, Mary Bell, Laura Stebbins, Stacey Young, Hillary Knapp, Kathleen Taylor, Jessica Lascola, Meredith Hanshu and Jessica Hillsley.
The team travels to Indianapolis, Ind. to compete in the Head of the Eagle Regatta on Sunday, Oct. 18.
