Goldman Signs Two for 2004-05

Bloomington, Ind. - Indiana wrestling head coach Duane Goldman has announced that Andrae Hernandez (Griffith, Ind./Griffith), and Heath Vandeventer (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North) have signed letters-of-intent to attend Indiana University beginning in the fall semester of 2004.
"We are very pleased with the two student-athletes that we signed during the early signing period," said Goldman. "They are two of the best wrestlers in the state and the nation. In addition, they are tremendous individuals."
A defending state champion, and a junior national runner-up, Hernandez is a standout at Griffith High School in Griffith, Ind. Ranked No. 1 in the nation at 130-pounds, he has compiled a 174-4 record overall and is projected to be in the 141-pound class at the collegiate level.
"Andrae has proven himself to be one of the best wrestlers in the nation in high school, and we look forward to helping him become one of the best in the nation at the collegiate level as well," said Goldman.
Vandeventer is ranked No. 9 in the nation at 189-pounds and racked up a 123-16 career record while attending Bloomington North. He also was a state runner-up in 2003 as well as a Cadet National All-American and NWCA Follestyle Nationals runner-up. Vandeventer is projected to compete in the 197-pound weight class when he begins his college career.
"Heath is a great competitor. He has beaten many of the top athletes in the nation, yet he has not even begun to tap into his potential. We look forward to developing his talent and watching him perform."
