Hoosiers Host SIUE and Manchester in Home Opener

Bloomington, Ind. - Indiana wrestling opens its home dual-meet season Saturday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. at University Gymnasium in Bloomington, Ind. The Hoosiers will play host to the Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Cougars and the Manchester Spartans.
The Hoosiers are coming off a solid performance at the Missouri Open, with five Hoosiers placing in the top five. IU is heading into the meet looking for their first dual meet wins of the season. SIU-Edwardsville enters the meet 1-0 on the season after earning a 21-18 win over McKendree. The Cougars also participated in the Missouri Open this past weekend in Columbia, Mo. Among the top finishers in the freshman-sophomore division were Joe Rujawitz, the 149-pound champion and fifth place finishers Sean Tyrus (197-pounds) and Steve Chico (125-pounds).
The Spartan wrestling team is coming off five dual match losses at the 2003 Olivet College Comet Duals Meet last Saturday. Manchester was defeated by SUNY-Cortland 31-10, Olivet 27 -10, Bethel 29 -16, Wartburg 46 -3 and Mount Union 20-16.

The Indiana wrestling team received honorable mention in the preseason NCAA I Wrestling Rankings according to Intermat Wrestling. Eight of the Hoosiers opponents, including Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue and Michigan State received votes in the top 25.
