Meet Christine Taylor (2-5-03)

Bloomington, Ind. - Christine Taylor is currently a junior on the Indiana rowing team. A native of Milbrae, Calif., Taylor was a four-year member of the Mercy High School crew team, receiving MVP honors for three years as well as being named team captain for three years.
As a freshman, in 2000, Taylor joined the Hoosier Novice squad where she competed in the Novice 8 boat. In her sophomore season Taylor became a member of the Varsity team, rowing primarily in the Varsity 4 boat. This past fall, as a junior, Taylor was a member of the Varsity 4 boat that finished first at the Head of the Eagle Regatta. Taylor also participated in the fifth annual LemonHead Regatta, the Head of the Elk Regatta and the Head of the Rock Regatta.
What is your favorite color?
"I have two, blue and red."
What kind of music do you listen to?
"I listen to rap, R&B, alternative and country."
What is your favorite food?
"Italian food."
What is your favorite sports figure and team?
"I love all the Winter Olympic athletes."
What do you like to do in your spare time?
"I like to read, watch TV and of course hang out with friends."
What is your all-time favorite TV show?
"The Simpsons and CSI."
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
" The Tin Roof Sunday."
If you could visit anywhere in the world where would it be?
"Italy."
What do you aspire to be or do after graduation?
"I would love to travel."
What three words best describe you?
"Nice, short and hyper."
When did you start rowing?
"In the Fall of 1996."

Why did you choose to attend Indiana? What other schools did you consider and why did you eventually select IU?
"It is a big campus and the people are friendly. It is only four years of my life to experience a different part of the country. I looked at Oregon State University but picked IU because I wanted to try something totally different."
What is your own personal best achievement in rowing?
"Junior year in high school I was in the 3V and we had not won any races all year. We had one shot to prove ourselves at junior regional championships and we ended up surprising not only surprising our team and coaches but ourselves when we took home the gold medal."
How do you deal with the early morning practices?
"I try not to think about how early it is. If I don't get out of bed and get up then I will never get up.
What is your favorite season of the year and why?
"The summer because it is warm, everyone is home for the summer and there is no stress of school. I especially like it when the sun does not set until about 8-9 p.m. at night and so it makes the day seem to go on forever."
