Meet Casey Schoenhoft (3-4-03)

Bloomington, Ind. -Casey Schoenhoft is currently a sophomore on the Indiana University Varsity Rowing team. A native of Fairfield, Ohio, Schoenhoft attended Ursuline Academy. At Ursuline Academy Casey lettered in basketball, softball and rowing, where she was named captain of basketball and rowing.
Shoenhoft joined the IU Novice rowing squad in the spring of her freshman year, 2001-02, where she was a member of the Novice 8 that was victorious against West Virginia at the Cincinnati Invitational and third at the Indiana Cup.
In the Fall of this year Casey became a member of the Varsity team where she rowed in the Varsity 8 B boat that finished fourth at the fifth annual LemonHead Regatta, seventh in the doubles competition at the Head of the Rock Regatta and was a member of the victorious Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 boats at the Head of the Eagle Regatta.
When did you start rowing?
"My senior year in high school."
Do you have any brothers or sisters?
"Yes, I have two sisters, Sara who is 17 and Carly who is 13."
What is your favorite color?
"Orange."
Who is your favorite actor?
"Bruce Willis."
What is your favorite food?
"Pizza."
Who is your favorite sports figure and team?
"Marion Jones is my favorite sports figure and my favorite team is the Cincinnati Reds."
What is your favorite animal?
"The wolf."
What do you like to do in your spare time?
"I like to exercise and relax with friends."
What is your all-time favorite TV show?
"ER."
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
"Mint chocolate chip."
What is your favorite movie?
"I love the movie The Sandlot. It's light and funny and reminds me of being a kid."
What three words best describe you?
"Hard-working, fun and independent."
If you had to play any other sort, what would it be and why?
"I would play basketball because it is fast paced and I love sports with physical contact."
Why did you choose to come to Indiana?
"I chose Indiana because it seemed to offer the most opportunities for me. I went to small, catholic schools my whole life and I wanted a change. IU seemed to offer the experience and challenge that I craved - a large student body, Big Ten atmosphere, and friendly people!"
What is your personal best achievement in rowing?
"My own personal best achievement was winning the Cincinnati Junior
Rowing Championships in my age division when I was a senior."
What is your favorite season of the year?
"My favorite season is summer because it's hot!! I love the sun and being outdoors."
If you could visit anywhere in the world where would it be?
"South America."
What do you aspire to be or do after graduation?
"I want to be a Physical Therapist or Paramedic."
