Strong IU Contingent to compete this week at Speedo National Diving Championships in Indianapolis

Bloomington, Ind. - Indiana University will be well represented at the 2003 Speedo National Diving Championships, which will be held at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis from Tuesday, June 24, through Sunday, June 29. The meet begins tomorrow with the preliminaries of the men's and women's synchronized events, men's 3-Meter springboard, and women's 10-Meter platform.
The National Diving Championships will feature approximately 125 divers from throughout the United States, including current and former Indiana University divers Cassandra Cardinell, Marc Carlton, Ryan Fagan, Brian Mariano and former IU divers Tom Davidson, Sara Hildebrand, and Kimiko Hirai Soldati. Hildebrand participated on platform at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. At the 2002 National Diving Championships, Hildebrand, the 2003 Big Ten Diver-of-the-Year, finished second on both 1-Meter springboard and 10-Meter platform. She was fifth on 3-Meter springboard.
In July, both Hildebrand and Cardinell will travel to Barcelona, Spain to compete at the FINA World Diving Championships.

6:00 p.m. - Synchro Preliminaries, Men's 3-Meter Preliminaries, Women's Platform Preliminaries, Women's 3-meter Preliminaries, Men's Platform Preliminaries
Wednesday, June 25
2:00 p.m. - Men's 3-meter quarterfinals followed by semifinals, simultaneous with women's platform quarterfinals followed by semifinals
Thursday, June 26
2:00 p.m. - Women's 3-meter quarterfinals followed by semifinals, simultaneous men's platform quarterfinals followed by semifinals
Friday, June 27
1:00 p.m. - Men's 1-meter quarterfinals, followed by semifinals A&B, followed by women's 1-meter quarterfinals A&B
7:00 p.m. - Men's 1-meter final, followed by women's 1-meter final, followed by men's 3-meter synchro final, followed by women's 3-meter synchro final
