Hoosiers Win a Pair

On the day, four Hoosier wrestlers posted perfect 3-0 records, while two grapplers picked up two victories in three matches.
No. 5 Coyte Cooper won all three of his matches in the 141-pound class to improve to 19-0 on the season and 9-0 in dual meets. The senior picked up one pin and one major decision and now has 10 pins and five major decisions this season.
At 125 pounds, Joe Dubuque collected three victories, moving to 15-2 on the season. The sophomore has reeled of 14 consecutive victories after opening the season 1-2. Dubuque is a perfect 9-0 in dual meets and picked up his third major decision this season.
Junior Pat DeGain remained redhot, winning his three matches at 197. The seventh-ranked wrestler in the nation has now won nine consecutive matches and is 14-2 on the season, including a perfect 8-0 in dual action. With his two pins and one major decision, DeGain has three pins and three major decisions on the season.
Brady Richardson improved to 13-5 on the season after earning three victories at 174. The junior is ranked 13th in the country and is now 7-2 in dual action with four major decisions.
Sophomore Matt Cooper returned to action for the first time since sustaining an injury at the season-opening Missouri Open and posted a 2-1 record. Cooper knocked off Chris Tate of Bloomsburg, 7-3, and defeated Casey Burchfield of Buffalo, 15-13.
In the 184-pound weight class, junior Andy Rios picked up a pair of victories. The 14th-ranked Rios only loss came to seventh-ranked Blake Kaplan of Ohio State. Rios is 14-3 on the season and 7-2 in dual meets.
The Hoosiers return to the mat on Sunday, Jan. 11 at the Wendy's Duals in Ashland, Ohio at 10:00 a.m.
