Hoosiers Rout Eastern Illinois, 42-6

Charleston, Ill. - Behind four pins and two forfeits, the Indiana wrestling team improved to 1-0 on the season with a 42-6 victory over Eastern Illinois, Sunday afternoon at the Lantz Arena.
The dual opened with IU recording back-to-back forfeits at 125 and 133 pounds. At 141 pounds, 11th-ranked Mike Simpson improved to 8-2 on the season with an 8-1 victory over Dexter Johnson to give IU a 15-0 lead.
Eastern Illinois snapped the Hoosiers three-match winning streak as senior Justin King dropped a close decision to Shane Dintelman, 6-4.
17th-ranked Brandon Becker scored the first of four IU pins as he placed Andy Manglaguerra onto the mat 4:27 into the match at 157 pounds. Redshirt-freshman Max Dean followed with a fall over Kevin Knabjian, 2:20 into the first period to give IU a 27-3 lead.
In the match featuring two ranked opponents, 16th-ranked Brady Richardson saw his four-match winning streak snapped as he fell to 19th-ranked Kenny Robertson, 7-2.
Junior Andy Rios at 184 pounds, continued his strong start to the season as he improved to 9-3 on the season pinning Greg Perz at the 2:52 mark.
Sophomore Josh Buuck followed the Rios pin, with his second fall of the year over Jason Sherko with 34 seconds remaining in the match at 197 pounds.
The final match of the day saw fifth-ranked Pat DeGain record a 7- 2 decision over Peter Ziminski. With the win, DeGain improves to 11-2 on the season.
The Hoosiers return to action on Sunday, Dec. 19 as they are home for the first time this season squaring off against Gardner-Webb and Cumberland at 2 p.m. at university Gym.
