Four Hoosiers Earn Academic Honor

Senior Coyte Cooper, junior Andy Rios and sophomores Tim Falls and Matt Cooper represent IU on the team.
This marks the fourth consecutive year Coyte Cooper has earned the award and the second straight season Rios has received the honor. Falls and Matt Cooper were selected to the team for the first time in their careers.
Overall, the Big Ten recognizes a total of 409 winter sports athletes who have been named to the Academic All-Conference Team. The list of honored student-athletes features 28 men's and 47 women's basketball players, 30 men's and 49 gymnasts, 83 men's and 125 women's swimmers and divers and 37 wrestlers.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a career grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better.
Leading the way for the Hoosiers in the classroom was the women's swimming and diving team with eight selections, followed by the men's swimming and diving team with five and the wrestling team with four representatives.
Rounding out the Hoosier fall sports in number of Academic All-Big Ten honorees were men's basketball with two and women's basketball with one.
