Cobbina also became the 14th Hoosier this season to earn a regional qualifying mark.
The sprint competitions were first on Friday's agenda and a handful of Hoosiers set foot on the track to compete in their respective events. In the women's 100-meter dash, Ara Towns finished second in her heat with a time of 11.69, but just missed making the cut for the finals as she took a tenth-place finish. Another solid effort came from Courtney Johnson who finished 15th in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 13.97, just two tenths of a second off the regional qualifying time. The women's 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Michele Huber, LaDonna Ray, Charlene Maddox and Stacey Clausing finished third in their heat, 22nd overall, with a time of 3:45.58.
The men's 4x400 team of David Neville, Andre Grimes, Kevin Kempf and Ryan Sarbinoff, also just missed advancing to the finals after they took a 10th-place finish with a time of 3:11.11.
In the field events, Andrea Dalla Rosa picked up eighth-place in the shot put with a throw
of 14.05m (46-01.25). Ketchum and Mike Minton both took part in section B of the discus throw with
Former IU Hoosier standout, now graduate assistant coach, Rose Richmond, competed in the long jump unattached. Richmond placed third in Section A with a jump of 6.18m (20-03.50).
The 3000-meter men's steeplechase is the final running event on Friday for the Hoosiers and is set for 9:30 p.m. (CST) Matt Sweetman, Marcus Aguliar and Charlie Koeppen will compete in this event. Results will be available tomorrow on iuhoosiers.com.
