Day Two at Virginia Duals

Hampton, Va. - The 19th-ranked Indiana wrestling team saw its eight-match winning streak come to an end in the finals of the Virginia Duals with a 25-9 loss to fifth-ranked Nebraska, Saturday night at the Hampton Coliseum.
Junior All-American Joe Dubuque and junior 174 pounder Brady Richardson in the finals led the Hoosiers.
Dubuque, who won his eighth-match in a row scoring a win over ninth-ranked Matt Keller via disqualification at 125-pounds. Richardson defeated Marc Harwood, 6-2.
In the semifinals the Hoosiers scored a 30-14 win over Tennessee-Chattanooga in the afternoon session.
Against Chattanooga, Dubuque scored a 10-6 decision over 19th-ranked Matt Pitts at 125 pounds to give IU and early 3-0 lead. Chattanooga took their first lead of the match at 133 pounds as Josh Keefe scored a major decision over Dyer, 10-2 at 133 pounds to give the Mocs a 4-3 lead.
Chattanooga extended it lead to 7-3 as 19th-ranked Michael Keefe upset Simpson, 8-3 at 149 pounds. The Hoosiers regained the lead at 9-7 as Knable pinned Wayne French, 20 seconds it to the third period at 149 pounds. Becker extended the IU lead to 15-7 as he scored the second of four falls in the match over Jake Yost in a time of 2:53 at 157 pounds.
The Mocs cut the IU lead to four at 15-11 as Jon Sioredas scored a major decision over Max Dean, 13-5 at 165 pounds. Richardson gave IU an important bonus point victory at 174 pounds as he pinned Justin Otis, in a time of 3:46 at 174 pounds. After a Rios loss at 184 pounds to give IU a 21-14 lead, Buuck scored a9-3 win over Ward at 197 pounds before DeGain, who became the 11th Hoosier to record 100 career wins, recorded his fastest fall of the season over Wes Taylor, pinning the heavyweight in 29 seconds.
The Hoosiers return to action on Friday, Jan. 22 as they open up conference play against 24th-ranked Northwestern at 7 p.m. at University Gym.
