BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - A group of six Indiana divers will participate in the 2005 USA Diving International Team Selection Camp from Jan. 23-26 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. Senior Marc Carlton and junior Brian Mariano will compete from the men's squad while senior Cassandra Cardinell, freshman Christina Loukas, junior Lisa Silvestri and sophomore Lindsay Weigle will represent IU on the women's side.
"Making the selection camp is very difficult," Head Diving Coach Dr. Jeff Huber said. "Basically, a diver has to be in the top six in the United States to be invited. The IU divers worked hard to get to that level last summer and they have continued to work hard this school year to rise to the next level."
Upon completing the camp, the divers will rejoin their respective squads as the men head to the Purdue for a Feb. 5 showdown at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, the women also travel to West Lafayette, Ind., on Jan. 22 for a Crimson and Gold Cup showdown with Purdue at 1 p.m.
