Hoosiers Win Three at Indy Duals

Indianapolis, Ind. - The 19th-ranked Indiana wrestling team improved to 12-1 on the season, posting three dual victories over Missouri Baptist, 45-6, McKendree College, 45-6, and Indianapolis, 48-0. In all the Hoosiers won 28 of 30 matches.
On the day six Hoosiers posted 3-0 records, while sophomore Josh Buuck and Max Dean went 2-0.
Against Missouri Baptist, after forfeiting 125 pounds, Indiana won the next nine matches with seven earning bonus points. Senior Cameron Sakon at 141 pounds, scored a major decision over Ryan Byng, 12-4, to earn his first win of the season. Redshirt freshman Justin Curran won his first career dual, scoring a major decision over Nigel Kinworthy, 17-8.
The Hoosiers followed the Missouri Baptist match with another dominating performance over McKendree. IU won nine of 10 matches, including six bonus points wins.
After the win over McKendree College, the Hoosiers followed with its second shutout of the year over Indianapolis, 48-0
Against Indianapolis, IU won six matches via forfeit or fall. Justin King recorded his first pin of his career over Dave Burns at 157 pounds. True freshman Marc Bennett recorded his first career dual win over Mike Horton, 10-6, at 165 pounds.
At 133 pounds, Brian Dyer defeated Division II's fourth-ranked Shane Perkey, 2-2, in overtime. Despite the tied score, Dyer won on the riding time criteria.
The Hoosiers return to action on Friday, Jan. 28, as they travel to University Park, Pa., to take on 23rd-ranked Penn State at 7 p.m.
