BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The opening set of College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Dual Meet rankings were released on Oct. 21. The IU men's swimming and diving squad opened up in ninth, while the women picked up 16th.
The men received 135 votes to place ninth in the poll. Defending national champion Auburn is ranked first with 198 points, followed by Stanford (189), Florida (184), Michigan (173) and Arizona (169). IU is the second-highest ranked Big Ten team behind the Wolverines, while Minnesota tied for 11th (113). Other conference teams ranked include Northwestern (13), Purdue (15), Ohio State (20) and Wisconsin (22).
The women garnered 72 votes to place 16th in the poll. Florida is ranked first with 198 points, followed by Auburn (191), Georgia (179), Stanford (171) and Arizona (168). IU is the fourth-highest ranked Big Ten team behind Wisconsin (12), Penn State (13) and Michigan (15). Additionally, Minnesota is tied for 23rd with 22 votes.
The CSCAA Dual Meet Poll is an indication of a team's ability to win dual meets during the season and is not a predictor of any team's end-of-the-season placement at the NCAA Championships.
There will be 10 dual meet polls this year produced every two to three weeks throughout the college swimming and diving season.
Indiana continues its season with a dual meet against conference foe Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn., on Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.
