Where Are They Now? - Peter Haack

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Over the 2005-06 campaign, IUHOOSIERS.com will catch up with former Indiana swimmers and divers to see where life has taken them after graduating from IU. Peter Haack, who swam for IU from 1994-97, took the time to fill in IUHOOSIERS.com on his life since graduation.
What have you been doing since graduating from Indiana University?
I am a Recreation Supervisor working in the Montgomery County Maryland Department of Recreation, and I am currently the supervisor of the Montgomery Aquatic Center in North Bethesda, Md. I have been here about four years now using my Recreation Degree I got from IU. I spent four years before that at Starbucks, where I worked into becoming a store manager.
What did you enjoy the most about your time as a Hoosier?
The people who were there. My teammates became like brothers I never had, and the people I met outside of athletics were some of the best people I have ever met in my life. Every day, I had an opportunity to enrich my life and work towards a well-regarded degree at a top-notch university.
What piece of advice would you give to any current Hoosier?
Use your time at IU wisely. Don't just live day-to-day with no goals or objectives. Make as many friends and contacts as you can in every aspect of your day-to-day life. You never know when you will see one of them again in your future life!
Would you say that being a student-athlete at Indiana University has helped you get to where you are today?
I get a lot accomplished in a day and can be active from 6 a.m. -10 p.m. if needed, and I attribute that strength to early morning swim workouts and three-hour lectures that started at 7 p.m.
Anything additional you would like to add?
Cherish every day you are in college, you will never forget these experiences.
