BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana wrestling team held onto its top-20 ranking, moving to 18th announced the USA Today / NWCA / InterMat NCAA Div I Coaches' Poll on Dec. 15. The Hoosiers continue their dual schedule on Dec. 18 as they travel to Park Forrest, Ill., for the FITE Duals at Rich East High School. Indiana will face No. 21 Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois and Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Defending national champion Joe Dubuque remained at the top spot of the 125-pound division for the seventh straight week. Dubuque currently stands at 6-0 on the season after capturing his first regular-season career tournament title at the Mat Town Invitational (11/26) and going 2-0 at the Hoosier Duals.
Sophomore All-American Brandon Becker (157) moved up a spot to third and extends his appearances in the top five to seven straight weeks. Becker stands at 5-0 on the season and went 3-0 at the Mat Town invitational to capture his first regular-season career tournament title. Becker currently sits below two Big Ten wrestlers in Alex Tirapelle of Illinois and Joe Johnston of Iowa.
Wrapping up the Hoosiers in the rankings is senior two-time NCAA qualifier Brady Richardson. Richardson started the preseason at 11th, but after delivering a 11-2 record, a 2-1 record against ranked foes, a 2-0 mark in dual action and his second career regular-season tournament title at the Missouri Open (11/20), the Vincennes, Ind., native now stands in eighth for the third week in a row.
