Every week of the Indiana wrestling regular-season schedule, IUHOOSIERS.com will highlight the past or current performance of a Hoosier grappler. This week, IUHOOSIERS.com will spotlight Hunter Hughes and his efforts to go 4-6 in his first four competitions as a Hoosier.

So far in 2005-06, freshman Hunter Hughes has posted solid performances at the Eastern Michigan Open (11/5), Michigan State Open (11/12) and Missouri Open (11/20). The former four-time conference champion is one of only two Hoosier freshmen to make a start in dual action. In his debut, Hughes pinned Shannon Bohlman of Wisconsin-Whitewater at the 6:02 mark to help the Hoosiers dispose of the Warhawks, 45-4. Against UW-W, Indiana posted six falls and three decisions in all.
On the season at 165 pounds, Hughes has one fall and three decisions.

High school squad finished as individual tournament runner-up twice • four-time conference champion • two-time sectional and regional champion • two-time Freestyle and Greco State Champion • upon graduation held the school record for career pins (99) • senior season posted a 42-1 record and an overall record of 149-19 • ranked No. 1 all year at Jeffersonville • Cliff Keen Iron Man National Champion • four-time national team member • All-Marine candidate in 2003 • has one brother Nicholas • son of Rosemary and Harold Hughes.
