Hoosier Spotlight: Isaac Knable

Every week of the Indiana wrestling regular-season schedule, IUHOOSIERS.com will highlight the past or current performance of a Hoosier grappler. This week, IUHOOSIERS.com will spotlight junior Isaac Knable and his efforts to go 3-5 in his first three competitions.

So far in 2005-06, junior Isaac Knable has posted a solid performance at the Missouri Open (11/20), and finished seventh at the Mat Town Invitational (11/26) with a 2-2 ledger. Knable is currently one fall behind defending national champion Joe Dubuque (125 pounds) for the most falls by an active Hoosier grappler. Of Knable's 24 wins, 17 have come by way of pins. On the season, Knable is 3-5 with all three of his wins ending in a pin. In dual action, Knable is 1-1 on the year and opened his dual season with a loss to Joe Rujawitz (southern Illinois) followed by a victory over Jeremy Pingel (Wisconsin-Whitewater). Against Pingel, Knable added to a long list of falls posted by the Hoosiers, helping IU to a 45-4 romp of the Warhawks after pinning Pingel at the 0:47 mark.
On the season at 149 pounds, Knable has posted three falls and a total of six dual points.

Sophomore 2004-05
A NCAA qualifier at the 149-pound division, making his first appearance in the post-season • posted his first career-win over a ranked opponent, pinning then-No.19 Wayne French of UT-Chattanooga at the Virginia Duals (1/14-15) • Competed at both the Missouri Open (11/21) and Mat Town Invitational (11/27) posting a 3-4 record between the two events • recorded a 9-16 overall, 4-7 dual match record on the year • went 1-3 in Big Ten action • finished sixth at the Big Ten Championship • posted one major decision and five falls on the year.

Freshman 2002-03
Compiled a 12-15 record on the season • finished second at the Missouri Open in the Freshman/Sophomore • wrestled up a weight at 157, compiling a record of 4-9, 1-6 in the Big Ten • wrestled at 157 at the Big Ten Championship • won by fall in nine matches on the year.

Was a four-time state champion • won 112-pound weight class during freshman year, 130 pound class during sophomore year, 140 pound during his junior year and 145 pound in his senior campaign • won KHSCA Outstanding Wrestler Award both his junior and senior years • went 172-15 during his four-year career • played defensive back during his freshman, junior and senior years • has three sisters, Holly, Cate, who played basketball at Marshall and Britini • son of Catherine and Elmer Knable.
