Bloomington, Ind. - Junior Brady Richardson enters this weekend's duals against Purdue and Iowa with an 18-5 overall record, including a 12-3 mark in dual action. Richardson also sports a 4-2 record in Big Ten duals. The Vincennes, Ind. native is currently ranked 16th and 20th according to The Wrestling Mall and Amateur Wrestling News polls.
On his performance so far this season:
BR: "It's been all right. It has had its ups and downs, but most seasons do. I wish it could be a little better. I have lost to some guys that I shouldn't have."
On the Michigan State win:
BR: "I thought we did really good. We won all the matches that were toss-ups. We all came together and pulled it out. It felt real good."
On the Illinois loss:
BR: "Pretty much the opposite feeling of the Michigan State dual. We lost a lot of close matches. We didn't pull out one of them. Illinois just got the momentum."
On his mindset before a match:
BR: "I try to relax. Some people get all psyched up and I just try to settle down. I try to focus on my opponent and what I need to do. "
On Pat DeGain
BR: "He's done a great job. I feel bad because he has gotten so close to becoming an All-American a couple of times. He got hurt one year and came up one match short at nationals, so he has had a run of bad luck. The team and myself are pulling for him to become an All-American. I know he can. He's been really successful. He's helped me on and off the mat."
