Bloomington, Ind. - This is the second of a five part series previewing each weight class for the upcoming Big Ten Championship on March 5-6 in Iowa City, Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
141- Senior Mike Simpson (Huntington Beach, Calif.)
In another weight class that is stacked with ranked opponents, the 141-pound weight class features seven ranked wrestlers. Michigan's Josh Churella is fourth, followed by fifth-ranked Andy Simmson. Penn State's DeWitt Driscoll is 12th followed by IU's Mike Simpson at 13th. Northwestern's Ryan Lang is 16th, Alex Tsirtsis of Iowa is 19th and Tommy Owen of Minnesota is 20th.
Simpson, who won a Pac-10 championship in 2003 when he was at Arizona State, is 24-7 on the year with six major decisions. Simpson owns a 6-3 record against the field, including wins over then-No. 7 Alex Tsirtsis of Iowa, 5-3 on Jan. 30.

In what appears to be another strong weight class, the 149 pound class features six ranked wrestlers. Michigan's Eric Tannenbaum leads the group as he is ranked fifth, followed by seventh ranked Ty Eustice of Iowa. Purdue's Doug Withstandley is ninth, while Illinois' Anton Dietzen, Darren McKnight of Michigan State and Wisconsin's Craig Henning are 13th, 18th and 19th respectively.
The 149 pound weight for the Hoosiers has been split between two wrestlers in junior Cameron Sakon and sophomore Isaac Knable. Knable was the starter for the first half of the season and compiled a 7-12 overall record, including a 1-3 mark in Big Ten action. Sakon has wrestled at this weight class for the majority of the Big Ten season and has a gone 3-9 overall, including 0-5 in Big Ten action. He has wrestled at both 141 and 149 pounds.
