Bloomington, Ind. - This is the third of a five-part series previewing each weight class for the upcoming Big Ten Championship on March 5-6 in Iowa City, Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
157- Redshirt freshman Brandon Becker (Michleton, N.J)
In his first year, IU redshirt freshman Brandon Becker finished the year with a 25-9 record, including nine wins against Big Ten competition. His 13 bonus-point wins lead Indiana. Becker could be the sleeper in this weight class as he enters the Big Ten Championship, with wins in six of his last seven. Despite his 2-7 record against ranked opponents, Becker has lost four of those matches by a total of seven points.
In what could also be a preview of the 157-pound finals at the NCAA Championship, this weight class features top-ranked Ryan Bertin of Michigan and third-ranked Alex Tirapelle of Illinois. On Feb. 6, Bertin defeated Triapelle, 3-2 in Ann Arbor.
Other ranked wrestlers include Iowa's Joe Johnston, who is eighth, followed by IU's Becker is 12th and Wisconsin's Tyler Turner is 16th

The 165-pound weight class features four ranked wrestlers in second-ranked Ryan Churella of Michigan, fifth-ranked Mark Perry of Iowa, 10th-ranked Matt Nagel of Minnesota and 12th-ranked Donny Reynolds of Illinois.
After taking over the starting position in December, redshirt freshman Max Dean finished the year with a 20-11 record, including a 12-8 mark wrestling at 165 pounds. He went 8-3 at 157 pounds. He has won four matches at 165 pounds against Big Ten competition.
