Bloomington, Ind. - This is the final segment in a five part series previewing each weight class for the upcoming Big Ten Championship on March 5-6 in Iowa City, Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The top seven finishers in each weight class advance to nationals, which will be held on March 17-19 in St. Louis, Mo.
197- Sophomore Josh Buuck (Fort Wayne, Ind..)
Sophomore Josh Buuck will be looking to be one of seven grapplers to qualify for the NCAA Championship. Buuck ended the regular season with a 19-13 overall mark. Buuck has defeated two Big Ten opponents in Jeff Clemmons of Michigan State, 11-10 on Feb. 12 and Jared Massey of Wisconsin on Nov. 21Despite his 2-12 record against Big Ten competition, Buuck has lost six matches by a total on nine points.
Buuck will look to challenge Ohio State's J.D. Bergman for the 197-pound title. Bergman is one of six ranked wrestlers in this class. Bergman is the top-seeded 197 pounder as he is fourth in the nation, followed by 12th-ranked Phil Davis of Penn State. Nathan Moore of Purdue is 15th, Tyrone Byrd of Illinois is 16th and Willie Breyer of Michigan rounds out the ranked wrestlers at 20th.
In addition to Buuck, Breyer and Moore could be Bergman's toughest competition. Breyer pinned Bergman on Feb. 11 and Moore defeated him on Jan. 28.

HWT- Pat DeGain (Clarkston, Mich.)
In addition to Joe Dubuque, senior Pat DeGain will be looking to become Indiana's first Big Ten champion since 1997. The Clarkston, Mich., native enjoyed a successful 2004-05 season as he ended the year with a 27-4 record, including a 6-0 record in Big Ten duals. He became the third Hoosier in school history to win a Midlands Championship and the 11th to win 100 career duals. He also added a first-place finish at the Eastern Michigan Open and two second-place finishes at the Missouri Open and Mat Town Invitational.
The heavyweight class will be one of the toughest weight classes at this year's Big Ten Championship as four of the nation's top 10 wrestlers are in the field. Everyone will be chasing Minnesota's Cole Konrad, who went 10-0 against Big Ten competition and is ranked second in the nation. Michigan's Greg Wagner is third and both of his Big Ten losses came at the hands of Konrad. IU's Pat DeGain is fifth and lost a close two-point decision to Konrad at the Mat Town Invitational. Iowa's Matt Fields is eighth and two of his losses have come against DeGain.
The remaining two ranked wrestlers are Northwestern's Dustin Fox, who is 15th and Ohio State's Krik Nail, who is 17th.
DeGain enters the Championship, having won 14 of his last 15 matches, including wins over then-No. 6 Fields and then-No. 16 Nail.
