Preseedings Announced

Park Ridge, Ill. - The preliminary seeds for the 2005 Big Ten Championship were announced today by the conference officials. The pre-seeds are determined by a vote among the league's coaches after consideration of regular season results.
The Big Ten Championship will take play on Saturday, March 5 and Sunday March 6, as the University of Iowa is set to host the two-day event in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Championship bracket will be released on Friday, March 4.
Indiana has three grapplers seeded in the top-four of their respective weight class. At 125 pounds and the heavyweight position, junior Joe Dubuque and senior Pat DeGain are seeded third, respectively. Senior Mike Simpson is fourth at 141 pounds.
Redshirt freshman Brandon Becker and junior Brady Richardson are slated as the fifth seeds at 157 and 174 pounds, respectively. After finishing the year with a 20-11 record, redshirt freshman Max Dean is seeded sixth at 165 pounds. Brian Dyer and Andy Rios are seeded eighth at 133 and 184 pounds respectively.
Illinois and Michigan lead all schools with four top pre-seeds apiece. Minnesota and Ohio State also have a wrestler seeded a No. 1 entering the Championship.
The Hoosiers finished the regular season with a 16-5 overall record and a 4-4 conference mark.
The top seven finishers in each weight class advance to nationals, which will be held on March 17-19 in St. Louis, Mo.
