Meet Schedule Friday Results (as of 11:30 p.m.)
SOUTH BEND, Ind.--While most of the action of the 15th annual Meyo Classic gets underway on Saturday the handful of Hoosiers that did compete on Friday turned in some solid performances, highlighted by a second-place finish by Wil Fleming in the men’s weight throw, and fourth-place finishes by Lorian Price and Aarik Wilson in the long jump.
Fleming and Price both turned in personal bests in their respective events, as Fleming heaved a mark of 19.19m /62-11.50 and Price leaped 6.08m /19-11.75. Wilson recorded his second-best mark of the season with a jump of 7.46m/24-5.75.
Also turning in a personal best was Zakiya Robinson in the women’s long jump and Jake Wiseman in the pole vault. Robinson jumped 5.72m (18-9.25), good for a 12th-place finish, while Wiseman cleared 4.95m/16-3.00 to put him fifth overall.
Graduate assistant jumps coach Rose Richmond also competed in the open meet, claiming the women’s long jump title with a leap of 6.29m (20-.7.75).
Competition at the Meyo Classic continues tomorrow with the first event, the men’s 3,000m set for 10 a.m.
