Indiana Downed At No. 2/3 Ohio State, 78-46

Sophomore guard Annika Boyd scored a team-high 12 points for the Hoosiers. Sophomore center Sarah McKay added nine points and three rebounds.
"Ohio State is a fantastic team and they really took it to us today," Indiana head coach Kathi Bennett said. "We didn't get back in transition and our effort was inconsistent. If you are playing against a team like Ohio State, you need to go all-out for 40 minutes, and we didn't do that today."
OSU jumped out to a 10-2 lead just under three minutes in the half, forcing Bennett to call a 30 second timeout. After the timeout, the Hoosiers responded with a jumper from Boyd and a steal by junior forward Angela Hawkins on Ohio State's next possession, leading to another Boyd basket.
OSU would go on a 12-2 run over the next 3:58, paced by a pair of three-pointers from senior guard Caity Matter, to grab a 22-8 lead with 11 minutes to play.
The Hoosiers, playing their first of three-straight conference road games, got a jumper from junior guard Cyndi Valentin and a lay-up from McKay and sophomore guard Leah Enterline to cut the Buckeyes lead to 24-16 with 6:14 to play.
Ohio State closed the frame on an 11-2 run to take a 35-18 lead into the break.
OSU opened the second half on a 7-1 spurt to take a 42-19 lead at the 16:27 mark. McKay answered for the Hoosiers with a three-point play and a lay-up to cut into the Buckeyes advantage.
Indiana was unable to get any closer as Ohio State went on an 11-0 run over the next 3:50.
Matter scored a game-high 18 points, while sophomore center Jessica Davenport added 16 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
The Hoosiers continue their three-game conference road swing at No. 23/23 Penn State on Thursday, Feb. 10. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. (EST) and can be heard locally on WHCC (105.1) with Jeremy Gray calling all of the action.
