Loukas Takes Sixth on 1m at Worlds

MONTREAL, Canada - Rising freshman Christina Loukas placed sixth on the one-meter springboard at the 2005 FINA World Championships in Montreal. After qualifying from prelims with the third-best score and advancing through the semifinals with a third-place finish in her side of the bracket, Loukas posted a 259.02 in the final session.
Blythe Hartley claimed the gold in her own nation of Canada with an amazing run of dives for a 325.65 tally. China's Min Xia Wu picked up silver with a 299.70, while Germany's Heike Fischer won bronze with a 299.46.
