BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - From time to time, rising sophomore Elaine Deppe will provide a diary of the off-season experience of an Indiana rower as well as her thoughts on what it is like to be a student at Indiana University.
Bloomington is like a completely different world in the summer. Most of the students have gone home. I like it though, because I get to be part of the Bloomington community.
A few of us have been going out pretty regularly in the mornings to row. It is great because you get to take full advantage of the water.
The water is amazing in the summer, too. Every morning is like out of a movie; the water is like glass, the sun rises glowing a different color every morning and the fog is just rolling off the water onto land. That in itself should be motivation enough for everyone to stay in Bloomington for the summer!
