BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - From time to time, rising sophomore Elaine Deppe will provide a diary of the off-season experience of an Indiana rower as well as her thoughts on what it is like to be a student at Indiana University.
All of the students are starting to make their way into Bloomington to get ready for classes to start on Monday. I'm getting really excited, because I see a lot of new potential rowers around town. It's always a lot of fun when we all (the team) get to go out and get to talk to our possible future teammates.
Getting to choose your teammates is a unique experience that not a lot of student-athletes can say they are able to do. We've always been told that this is our team and that we are the ones to decide what our future is going to be.
We're getting ready to start our on-campus recruiting this week and it's going to be a blast. The team is going to help the freshmen move into the dorms and let them all know what Indiana Rowing is all about. We also have a few informational meetings set up for them to come and learn about the upcoming season. Everyone is pumped up and anxious for the season to start!
