WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Sophomore Annica Lofstedt feels no change in when she came to America to swim for IU. The Swedish native came to America without really knowing much about our native land, but sees no difference.
"I am happy I came here and there is not that big of a difference from America and Sweden except the language change," Lofstedt said. "I am glad I am at IU."
Lofstedt feels no dissimilarity among her teammates as she has become an important part of the team in relays and individual events such as the 50-yard freestyle.
The former Junior European in 1998 and European champion in 2000 is having a great career so far at IU. In her freshman year, she broke the school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay and made her way to the 2004 NCAA Championships and became an All-American. Her sophomore season was extensive. She helped break the school record in the 200-yard medley relay and finished in the points in all of seven of her events at the 2005 Big Ten Championships in Bloomington. The sophomore also racked up 20 event titles during the regular season before heading into the NCAA Championships.
