TAMPA, Fla. - The Indiana rowing team is currently training in Tampa, Fla., for its winter training trip from Dec. 31 to Jan. 7. The Hoosiers will write in to IUHOOSIERS.com from time to time to let everyone know how the team is doing. Junior Elaine Deppe is the second to report in from Tampa.
Day two in Tampa and we're all getting back into the swing of things. We're back into the rowing mindset and are remembering our boat feel. I know that we've all been excited for this trip; to row again and to get away from the ergs for awhile before winter training begins.
The weather has been beautiful for us thus far. It's been sunny and warm, which is a lot different than what Bloomington is right now. Although the wind has been little excessive at times, it's been a good challenge.
The coaches are doing a good job at making sure that we know why we're here. We're down here for a reason - to help get closer to accomplishing our season goals. Each one of us is focused and has been working hard. It also has been great working with the novice. We all make each other work harder and have been really competitive with each other. As it did last year, I think this trip will send us into the long months of winter training with a positive attitude. This trip helps us to remember what we have accomplished and that the months ahead will only make us better.
