Hoosiers Topped By No. 25 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Indiana volleyball team was defeated by No. 25 Ohio State, 3-0 (30-20, 30-19, 30-20), on Friday, Nov. 3, at St. John Arena. Indiana is now 10-15 on the season with a 1-12 mark in the Big Ten, while the Buckeyes improved to 16-7 with a 6-1 record in conference play.
After falling 30-20 and 30-19 in the first two frames, the Hoosiers battled back to record their best hitting percentage of the night, .200, in the third game. However, Ohio State proved to be too much, as it recorded a hitting percentage of .409 in the game to top IU, 30-20.
The Hoosiers were led by Juli Pierce's 12 digs on defense, while Erica Short and Lauren Ditteon each added six. Short also led the Hoosiers on the block, with three solo stops and one block assist, and in hitting, as she tallied 13 kills in the contest. Emily Zulauf added seven kills for IU.
Ohio State was led by Danielle Meyer, who tallied 16 kills to lead three Buckeyes in double figures. She also had only one error in 21 attempts for a .714 hitting percentage in the match and picked up two solo blocks and four block assists. Ami Stevens and Briana McCarthy each added 13 kills for Ohio State and Stevens recorded a double-double with 13 digs as well. Ashley Kiel led the Buckeyes with 20 digs in the match.
Indiana returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 4, when it travels to University City, Pa., for a matchup with No. 3 Penn State. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
