Hoosiers Continue Action at World Championship Selection Camp I

COLUMBUS, Ohio - All four current and former Indiana divers at the World Championship Selection Camp I were in action on Dec. 19, competing in either the synchronized platform or the platform.
Junior Christina Loukas and former IU All-American Cassandra Cardinell finished second on the synchro platform to Haley Ishimatsu and Mary Dunnichay. Indiana seniors Lindsay Weigle and Heather Chapman combined to finish third.
In the platform, Weigle finished third out of six divers on both lists of the day, while Cardinell was fifth on the first list and second on the second.
USA Diving is not releasing the scores for the events, as the selection process to advance to the next camp weighs several other factors, including consistency, average scores, projected scores and degree of difficulty.
"It's just another step toward making the other camp in January," Indiana head coach Dr. Jeff Huber. "It all adds up somehow, so all we can do is go up there and do our best. We won't know who makes the team until January, so it's a tough process where we just need to be patient and do what we can."
Competition resumes on Wednesday, Dec. 20, with Loukas slated to compete in the three-meter. The camp wraps up on Thursday, Dec. 21, when Cardinell and Weigle will again compete in the platform.
