Hoosiers Advance Three Divers to One-Meter Finals at Zones

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 16 Indiana women's diving team advanced three divers to finals during day one competition on the one-meter at the 2006 Zone C Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio, on March 10. Sophomore Christina Loukas, junior Lindsay Weigle and senior Heather Chapman all finished in the top 10 after prelims.
Loukas posted a solid string of six dives to earn the second-highest qualifying score of the morning with a 302.60. After struggling in the fourth round with a 39.60, the two-time Big Ten Diver of the Year and of the Championships responded with the best dive of the morning. She nailed a reverse 1.5 somersault with 1.5 twists for a 62.40.
Meanwhile, Weigle recorded the fourth-best effort of the morning with a 294.40. The Bloomington, Ind., product opened up with her best dive of the day by scoring 54 points from an inward 1.5 somersault from a pike position.
Additionally, Chapman registered the 10th-highest tally of the morning with a 246.55. Her best dive came in the second round with 44.85 points from a backward 1.5 somersaults from a pike position.
In other Hoosier action, sophomore Ashley Greene placed 24th with a 225.00, while classmate Jade Summerlin took 25th with a 224.80.
