
Fagan Places Second on One-Meter at Zones

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Seniors Ryan Fagan placed second on the one-meter at the 2006 Zone C Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio, on March 11. Fagan finished the day with 620.55 points after nailing his fourth-round dive (backward 2.5 somersault from a tuck position) for 60.00 points.
Meanwhile, senior Jesse Rappaport placed just outside of NCAA qualifying with a fifth-place tally of 587.65. Even though the IU veteran nailed an inward 2.5 somersault from a tuck position for 62.00 points in his final dive, he could not overcome a 27-point effort in the fourth round to earn a top-two spot.
Additionally, sophomore Taylor Roberts took sixth with a 585.80 total. His best dive came in the final round with 60.00 points from a reverse 1.5 somersault with 2.5 twists.
Furthermore, senior Brian Mariano placed 11th with 543.25 points after posting a 54.25 from his final-round dive (inward 2.5 somersault from a tuck position).
The Hoosiers will have one last chance to earn a bid at the NCAA Championships in Atlanta, Ga., from March 23-25 during the platform competition on March 12. The winner will secure a spot at NCAAs.
