ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 16 Indiana women's swimming and diving team is currently competing in the 2006 NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga., from March 16-18. The Hoosiers will take time out of their incredibly busy schedule to talk to IUHOOSIERS.com. Junior Lindsay Weigle talked about representing the Hoosiers as a Bloomington, Ind., native as well as returning to the national meet after missing out her sophomore season.
On what has been happening so far this week:
LW: We started off the week with something really fun. We all got pedicures as a team. It was a pretty neat ritual. It was a nice team-bonding thing, and Pam Swander is like the team mom.
On her family coming to the meet:
LW: My mom and my dad come to most of my meets. My brother and sister usually come to the 10-meter.
On returning to NCAA competition after making it as a freshman and missing as a sophomore:
LW: Last year was just a really off year for me. I was in a slump. At the beginning of this year, we changed a few dives. Also (Indiana head diving coach Jeff) Huber kept me really motivated. I have been feeling a lot better this year.
On representing Indiana as a Bloomington, Ind., native:
LW: It is awesome. I have been a Hoosier since I was born. I am glad I am able to represent IU here. It is really fun.
